The purposes of this course are to acquaint students with some of the fundamental properties of the real number system, to give them practice in deductive reasoning, to introduce them to Algebraic notation and graphing, to start them in a study of functions and function notation, and give them practice in algebraic manipulation, in solving of equations, inequalities, and applying these techniques to the solution of word problems.
