This course is designed for the student who enjoys singing, wants to learn how, and/or is interested in career fields which require knowledge in pitch and vocal production.  Students will survey musical literature from pop and classical cultures, relate the science of muscle operation/development to breath and vocal control, develop diction and basic vocabularies for the English, German, and Latin languages, recognize visual/spatial patterns for reading music at first sight, and incorporate the elements of music into performance pieces.  Opportunities for advanced study are offered through small ensembles, individual lessons, and the select show choir.  The mixed chorus performs two major concerts al9ong with minor appearances at coronation and graduation.  Members also prepare music for the Region V large group contest and solo/ensemble contest.  Mixed chorus is a co-curricular course which awards both academic credit and activity letter points.  It fulfills the state fine arts requirement.  It runs the entire year and counts as a half credit.
