Composition and Grammar III

The goal of the instructor is to prepare students for post secondary writing.  In the Composition unit students will write the following essays:  Personal reminiscence, Personal essay, Essay of experience, Analysis of a process, Essay of comparison, Essay of classification, Essay of definition, and Cause/effect essay.  In addition to writing essays, students also write a persuasive research paper in MLA style.  The paper must be 7-8 pages long and use 7-8 resources.  In the Grammar unit, the study of grammar is intended to benefit students in their writing.  The following is studied: Types of phrases, Types of clauses, Punctuation, Subject-verb agreement, Unclear pronoun reference, Modifier placement, and Faulty parallelism.
